Today is the first day of the “Forty days of Prayer”. This is a period where all our partners and friends pray for everyone who is involved in Face the Nation programme,the Schools, the students ,the vounteers who are sent to the schools and the nation as a whole.

I will post an entry every day taken from the prayer journal that is supplied for this particular period.

Psalm 5:11-12

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You; For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favour You will surround him as a shield.

Background information gathered in 2008

• Students struggled with low self esteem
• Exam stress
• Disrespect for teachers
• Students felt abstinence from sex until marriage was unrealistic, boys, especiall y resisted the message
• They felt that if you love someone then its okay to have sex.
• Double shift school: Inadequate time to counsel with students

COUNTRY WIDE PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE DAY

Salvation Pray for the salvation of many during the teaching phase of FTN. While there is a strong belief in the existence of God and a spiritual awareness, there is not a deep understanding of salvation by grace through Jesus. Pray that the eyes and hearts of many will see and understand that hope and salvation are in Christ alone.
